Healthy and Delicious!

Greenleaf is a small, L.A. based chain that specializes in cooking with fresh, local ingredients. They offer a wide range of healthy, delicious foods! I went to the one on Hollywood Blvd. right next to the Pantages Theatre. The restaurant is half indoor half outdoor, taking full advantage of the lovely L.A. weather. It also makes the space very Instagram-able. I went for lunch, but they are also open for breakfast and dinner with a full bar and offer brunch on the weekends. I was able to try lots of their food because I went with my family.

My mom ordered the green posole, which is a tradition Mexican soup with hominy. Greenleaf’s version also came with cabbage and chicken and avocado. It was very good! The broth was rich and flavorful and all the goodies inside the soup were perfectly cooked.

My sister got the black bean burger, and it was one of the best black bean burgers I’ve ever had! There was an aioli-type sauce and the patty was very well-seasoned and not at all dry (sometimes I think black bean burgers are a little dry). I also love a good brioche bun!

My dad got a pizza with cotija cheese, chicken and arugula, it was very good! The crust was nice and thin and I really liked the combination of flavors.

Barbecue Chicken Pizza

I wasn’t too hungry, so instead of a full meal I ordered two sides. The first was a Tuscan kale salad with cotija cheese, which was just okay. It was mostly just a pile of kale, and the dressing was very, very sour. The other side I got was a yam and beet mix with walnuts and goat cheese. It was the best thing on the table! It was so fresh and lovely and all of the flavors came together to create a truly wonderful dish!
