Night + Market Song

Night + Market Song has been on my list of places to check out for a long time. They currently have two locations in Los Angeles: one is Silver Lake and one in WeHo. According to their website, if they were to have a mission statement it would read:

“We aim to make the most delicious and authentic Thai food to facilitate drinking and fun-having amongst friends.”

I was excited to see if they lived up to their reputation for great food and a good time.

I went to the location in Silver Lake. Parking is primarily limited to paid street parking. Walking in, Night + Market Song definitely encapsulates an eclectic, fun vibe. You are inundated by colors and patterns and the happy chatter of people enjoying themselves. I went for lunch on a weekday, so I could walk right in and get a table, but if you go on the weekend or for dinner, be ready for a bit of a wait. The good news is Silver Lake has a bunch of cool, trendy shops you can browse through while you wait for a table.

I ordered the Pad Thai, because it’s my favorite Thai dish. It was amazing and the pepper flakes on the side packed a good deal of heat, so be warned if you prefer a milder dish. The food was great, the ambiance was fun, but Night + Market Song really does feel like somewhere you should bring friends. Even the food seemed to be set up to be shared “family-style” amongst the table. I had a great meal solo, but overall I think you’d enjoy yourself more if you come with another person

I’m excited to go back to Night + Market Song with a few friends and to try even more dishes!
