Things to Do

The Getty

the-getty

Perched on a mountain above the Sepulveda Pass, the Getty has a beautiful view of Los Angeles that rivals the beauty of the art within its walls. The Getty Museum will always be one of my favorite museums in Los Angeles. I went to this museum almost every year in elementary school for a field trip, and I grew to appreciate it more each time I visited!

Irises by Van Gogh

My favorite painting that the Getty has, has always been Irises by Van Gogh. They also have Ancient Greek and Roman statues, paintings from the Renaissance and the Dark Ages, Asian manuscripts and drawings, and, one of my favorite exhibits, Perisian beds!

One of the prettiest parts of the museum is its garden! Make sure to take some time to walk around outside and enjoy the beautiful LA weather after you enjoy the art inside the Getty. Also, make sure to walk out on one of the balconies to check out the view of Los Angeles. If you face east, you can see downtown LA, and on a clear day, if you face west, you can see all the way to the ocean! And on any given day, you can see all the cars stuck in traffic on the 405.

Admission to the museum is free! But it costs $10-$15 to park in the structure, depending on what time you visit the museum. I would recommend using the structure and taking the tram up to the museum.
