Tommy’s Original World Famous Burgers has been a Los Angeles institution since 1946. Today, there are 30 different Tommy’s in California and 3 in Nevada. The flagship restaurant is located at the corner of Beverly Blvd. and Rampart Blvd. in downtown LA, and I recently went for the first time! Eating at this location really feels like stepping back in time. The restaurant is just two stands where you order food, and then you eat at the counter outside. There is no drive through or indoor seating areas.

I ordered the Cheeseburger with everything, which includes pickles, onions, tomatoes, and chili. Whatever you do, you HAVE to get chili! I know Tommy’s self-proclaimed claim to fame is their burgers, but the real star of the show is the chili. It’s good on hotdogs, hamburgers, and fries. I also ordered the chili cheese fries and a Pepsi. Tommy’s is definitely not where you go if you want to eat healthy, but if you want some good, classic, Americana food, no one does it better than Tommy’s.
