Los Angeles isn’t known for its BBQ, but it should be! Located in Grand Central Market in DTLA, Horse Thief BBQ serves traditional Texas BBQ with modern sides. It was even featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network!

Parking is always difficult around Grand Central Market. I usually try to find paid street parking, but after a few laps I’ll just park in one of the nearby lots. But the lots tend to be pretty expensive (bring cash!). Horse Thief BBQ is on the exterior of Grand Central Market (across from Angels Flight https://www.lavitabloger.com/angels-flight/) and has a lovely outdoor seating area shaded by trees.

I went with my dad, so I got to try double the food! I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cornbread and Sweet Potato Casserole and my dad got the Fried Chicken Sandwich with Coleslaw and Potato Salad. Everything was delicious! The BBQ was flavorful and the chicken had a nice crunch to it. I liked the pulled pork sandwich better (but I’m partial to pulled pork) and the cornbread and potato salad were my favorite sides. The coleslaw was good, but both sandwiches included coleslaw, so I didn’t feel like I needed it as a side too. The Sweet Potato Casserole was also good, but I prefer my sweet potatoes sans sugar.

Even with all of the wonderful options at Grand Central Market (https://www.lavitabloger.com/grand-central-market/), I would definitely eat at Horse Thief BBQ again!
